
I have always had a soft spot in my heart for animals. Any kind of animal would make me smile and I would always try to play with them. My parents worried that I only liked animals and I seemed to be uncomfortable around kids. In fact, that’s true. I used to really not like kids. They always cry and have runny noses and try to touch things. I would never know what to say to them or how to act around them. With animals, its easy, you just give them attention and they seem happy (for the most part).
However, after my experience spending the night in Sir Lowry’s Pass with all of the children in the township, I have a whole new appreciation and love towards children. From the very first second I stepped off of the bus, all of the kids ran up to me and gave me hugs. Their smiles were so big you couldn’t help but genuinely smile right back. I truly believe it was one of the happiest state of minds I have ever been in. There was just so much positive energy being emitted because the kids just needed love.
